Car Accidents: Driver, Passenger Killed in Wrong-Way Crash

|

Remaining safe on Tennessee roadways is dependent on weather and road conditions and the behavior of drivers. When drivers neglect to drive in a safe manner, serious car accidents can occur. Sadly, a recent late-night accident resulted in the death of two individuals and injuries to others.

According to the investigation report, the 52-year-old driver of a car drove on the wrong side of the road. As a result, the vehicle crashed into an oncoming sedan. The unsuspecting 25-year-old driver of the sedan suffered serious injuries and did not survive the crash.

Both vehicles contained passengers, and both suffered injuries. Sadly, the older driver's passenger was killed. Reportedly, the blood of the wrong-way driver has been collected to be tested for the presence of alcohol and/or drugs. He also suffered injuries, and he is expected to be officially booked for charges related to the accident following his release from the hospital. He has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and one count of vehicular assault.

Car accidents such as this one are often preventable. Sadly, victims bear the brunt of negligent driving with expensive property damage, injuries, and medical expenses. For victims who do not survive a crash, families must foot expensive burials at a time when they are struggling with their grief. Tennessee personal injury attorneys understand the physical, emotional and financial stress that many crash victims experience. Attorneys are available to assist victims to recoup some financial losses through insurance claims or lawsuits in civil court.
