All the More Tragic When Car Accidents Involve Children

|

When a motor vehicle collision occurs in Tennessee or elsewhere, there's always a risk for injury. Car accidents that result in injury or fatality to children are especially tragic. This was the case in a crash that happened on a recent Friday.

There were three vehicles involved in the collision. A child was traveling with two adults, one of whom was the mother. As their car navigated an intersection, a vehicle traveling in a cross direction slammed into their vehicle.

The impact of the crash caused a secondary collision with a third vehicle; thankfully, the driver of that car was not injured in the accident. Four other people, however, all adults, were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries in the immediate aftermath of the collision. Sadly, the child was also taken to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.

Tennessee car accidents often occur at intersections. Any number of issues can cause such collisions, such as driver negligence, or if a driver fails to stop at a stop sign or red light. Details regarding the exact cause of this incident might have been is not shared. When injuries or fatalities occur because of driver negligence, those who suffer may seek justice by filing personal injury or wrongful death claims in a civil court. If a deceased accident victim is a minor, as in this particular case, a parent or legal guardian may act on his or her behalf to seek financial accountability against the person deemed responsible for the death.
